User request for "All files" fails
Two patrons requested access to all the restricted files from the Testbank for Fundamentals of Business in the Open Textbooks collection. Anita Walz, collection administrator, tried to release all files to the patrons. Both patrons received email links to the item where the files were still restricted. DSpace 6 has a history of throwing up this error when a patron clicks the "all files" option in the request form (see attached screenshot). So I attempted to replicate the issue. When I requested a single file, I received an email with the file attached. But when I requested all files, I only got a link to the item record, with no email attachments.
I'm posting this here in the hope that there's a setting in DSpace 7 to counteract this issue. If it's better to document it somewhere else, please let me know.
Here are the steps I took on my end to replicate Anita's issue (I'm not that familiar with how it looks from the author's end):
- Navigate to the Testbank for Fundamentals of Business. If you're on campus, paste the link into a VPN site like Hide Me. When off campus, just make sure you are logged out of VTechWorks.
- Once you've reached the item record, click on the link to the file you want to request. You'll then be taken to a request form.
- First, I tried selecting the "only the requested file" option and entered a test message to Anita, the author/owner of the item. In return, I received an email from her with the file attached.
- Next, I repeated the previous steps, except I chose the "all files" option in the request form. Then I received an email with a link to the item record. No files were attached. When I visited the item record (while still logged out of VTechWorks), the files had lock symbols beside them, and clicking on any of the links took me back to the request form.
For the time being, I've advised Anita to just email patrons from her work email and manually attach the requested files.
